Synopsis

Ubar, the City of a Thousand Lanterns, rises from the Arabian desert like a paradise made real, a kingdom of music, trade, fountains, faith, and freedom.

But beneath its beauty lies an ancient secret. Ubar was built upon lands once guarded by the Jinn, beings of smokeless fire who were enslaved by the ambitions of men. Now the wells are failing, greed is spreading, and the forgotten curse is beginning to awaken.

Prince Ali, the noble heir to Sultan Zafir, has always believed that one day the kingdom will be his. But when the Sultan is poisoned, the calculating Vizier Qadir frames Ali for the murder, turns the people against him, and seizes control of Ubar.

Freed from the dungeon by the loyal warrior-scholar Fareed, Ali escapes into a violent desert storm carrying only his father’s sword, the royal Seal of Ubar, and an ancient map. The map leads toward Shahramar, a magnificent civilization swallowed by the sea, where the legendary Heart of Safran is said to hold the power of a fallen star.

Alone in the desert, stripped of privilege and certainty, Ali joins forces with Rafiq and Kamal, two comic thieves whose unlikely loyalty becomes a source of strength. Together, they cross sinking sands, cursed valleys, tribal territories, pirate shores, and the deadly Cave of Sighing Stone.

Within the darkness of Safarun’s Throat, Ali confronts an ancient Jinn. He does not defeat the creature through force. He earns its respect and gains a powerful guardian.

Their journey carries them beneath the Arabian Sea and into the ruins of Shahramar, where Ali retrieves the Heart of Safran. Its power could restore his kingdom.

Ali gathers Arabia’s divided tribes and leads them against Qadir. He takes the fortified city of Kordova but refuses to become a destroyer, protecting its civilians and showing mercy where others expected conquest. Through that choice, the exiled prince begins becoming the king his father believed he could be.

At Ubar, armies collide beneath a sky torn apart by the Blue and Red Jinn. Ali defeats Qadir’s forces and restores his father’s kingdom, but the power of the Heart of Safran threatens to consume him.

Layla, the woman who loved the man beneath the crown, reveals the stone’s true purpose. Its power was never meant to be controlled. Through faith and compassion, she returns its light to its source and restores the balance between humanity, the desert, and the Jinn.

Ali is crowned Sultan of Ubar. Layla becomes his queen. The Jinn is granted freedom and, for the first time, offered a home.

The kingdom is reborn, not through conquest, but through mercy and love.
